Our fantastic experience with Izzy

It was so cool that we had a dance teacher it was better than having jump jam. I liked how we done our worm up and it was fun and I loved it. I absolutely love how Izzy taught us the two dances and she was motivative and she would always want to get our heart pumping. I just want to say thank you to Izzy for teaching us all of those groovy moves.

Basic facts T4W8

I have not done good I have drop down form stage 5 to stage 4 so I have not improved and I am very unhappy about that. If I continue being at the stage I will be at the lowest stage in the class and I don't want that to happen so what I am gonna do I am Gonna work harder at school so I can reach my goal and achieve it.

Te Kotuku

I am proud to be Maori and I was happy that I got to share that with the kapa haka ropu/group. My kapa haka ropu/group and we share that with the other schools that had contributed n the Te Kotuku festival and I am so happy that we got a trophy for being there and doing our best. Our bracket had a entrance two waiatas/songs and our haka then our exit. We got a greeting from the MC and than got our trophy than had a sank so I am so happy that I was there at the very first Te Kotuku festival with the ropu/group. Out of five people in our class participated out of the twenty eight.

3 Sticks

If you want to know how to play this is how you place three sticks in a distance that you can jump and when you are ready you can take your shoes off to run or keep them on its up to you than you are ready to play 3 sticks. The feather you get the better you are at jumping so this kind of exercise is to make your leg muscles be more stretchy so that you can do things like 3 sticks , running high jump and long jump 3 sticks can really help so try it out.

I have improved and I have just gone up to stage 5 again but I am now one step more to completing my goal which is going into stage 6. I am very happy that I have improved I might go down a stage but I might just come back up to stage 5 but I'm very proud of myself.

I have not improved now I have to go back down to a stage four. I still have to learn how to do division and groupings within 100. So I have to study hard about my division and grouping within 100. I will have to pay attention in class so I can achieve my goal of getting 90% percent in stage 5. Division is hard for me but if I learn about it I could get a better score.  

WALHT:Describe our hip hop dance lesson?

We had dance class today and it was fun. I was unfortunate last week because I did come to the dance lesson last week. We were in the hall and we wormed up to the beat so we twirled our arms back and forward. It was so fun when we done the warm up.

We then played a game it was rock , paper , scissors but with poses. We went in to four different groups. Group three and two were in a tie but it was fair that group three won. It was so cool  to play rock paper scissors. The posses were funny but we all looked very very serious.

There after we learnt how to do the hand work and the video shown on top will show you our moves. The moves were hard at first then it got easy but not to easy. When we got the rhythm we kept on going faster and faster. We had to memorise it so we can get a treat.

It was so fun when we Warmed up played the game and done the hand work we are so lucky we are gonna do it tomorrow.   

Composting and Worm farming

This term my group of four made this project about worms.  Our inquiry investigation question was
how long would it take worms and earthworms to eat a whole three apples decayed.

First, we used the internet to research our topic so we can get our question right.  
Then we constructed
this project by working together as a team. I did the planing to make our project simple and easy.
 We used paint , tape , gun stapler and a box. What was easy was painting the box and the pieces with it. What was difficult was the pronunciation because we didn't know how long it would take for the worms and earthworms to eat the three apples. How did this help your learning it helped us by learning how long it took for the worms to eat when we researched. It takes up to one hour for seventeen worms to eat two apples.
I would like to see how long it takes to compost in summer and winter so you can plant.

I have improved a lot today. Last week I got 90% and now in week ten I got 91%. I can move up from stage 4 to stage 5. I am happy that I moved up a stage and I can now learn more about grouping within 100. When I am at stage 5 I would be one stage under the curriculum level.

Flying with diamond jets/Improvement in e-asttle

I fell so happy that I got a good result from the e-asttle. I got from a 2A in strand to a 3P and in the number I got from a 2P to a 3P. I am so proud of my achievement and that is so good that I feel like I am flying high in the sky with diamond jets and catching those problems and achieving them.

If I got one more question right I would have moved up a stage.
So I have to learn more about groupings within 10&20 and Doubles/Halves to 20.
I would want to get to stage six and its september and I want to improve.

Maori Language week

It is Maori Language week and we are learning to speak Maori. and we are learning to speak Maori. I learnt that Kuia means grandmother and Koro means grandfather. I also learnt how to make a hangi and other stuff. Maori language week is important to the maori this week because this was the week that the maori found New Zealand.

Cancer day  collecting funds/ raising funds for research for  cancer treatment.

I remember Whae Emily when she came to Glen Innes School
she was a great teacher also a great maori teacher.
I was in her class when I was in your two.
Whae Emily was a very good teacher in room four she would always
be good to our class then we would be good to her.  
Siaosi Tongilava was a great teacher to he was
like a tongan legend he came to teach
what he knew then he died.
I had an aunt who died of cancer and diabetes
my family was very heart broken when they
heard that she was diagnosed with cancer and diabetes and
our family knew she was gonna die soon.
I remember Whea Emily very well but I don’t remember
Mr Siaosi Tongilava as well but I bet there in a
better place as well as my aunty.

  

Maths games

I was playing a game of matching fractions.  I had match 1/2 with words one
half and a picture that showed one half.  
This game was difficult and confusing for me because
i'm very slow at putting down and picking cards up to match.
I would like to learn how to do an improper fraction
and a mixed number to get the fraction right.

Bokashi

This afternoon Mr Naidoo told us about compost and no meat , fats , bones and citrus. We could make something with the meat citrus and that we could make bokashi. Bokashi is made up from orange peels , meats , fats and bones you just needed to get two buckets , one hand fill off bokashi mix , orange peels , meat scraps and bones. So when you fill it up it will probably take two weeks or less then you do two new buckets and put a holes in the first one and do the processes.

Today my some of my class went for volleyball and it was fun. The people who didn't play had to do there speeches because they didn't finish it. We learnt how to spike the ball over the net easier Then we hopped into a game it was fun. We didn't know who won the game because we had to go back to class for morning tea.

Benefits of composting

I think that the benefits of composting is good because it can help us get

a better results of having a healthy garden.

Here are five different benefits that can help save our environment.

My first reason is:Composting reduces greenhouse gasses. The landfill produces
methane gas and that is bad.

That gas is not good for soil or compost. The landfill doesn't produce air it
produces methane gas

and that isn't a good for us because it isn't made up from oxygen.

If we compost more we won't have methane gasses in the landfill or other greenhouse gasses.

My second reason is:Composting improves soil quality.

Composting is good for regenerating the old soil so it can help the food scraps grow the plants.

So when the worms come they can eat the soil and absorb the air at the same time. We need
to compost more

so that we can have a more safe and healthy environment.

My third reason is:Compost helps clean up contaminated soil.

Contaminated soil isn't good because it can cause pollution and unhealthy plants.

We have to help the soil by plant and pour the right stuff on to the grass.

We have to stop  pouring toxic stuff on the grass that won't help the plants and soil it will die.

For this situation you will need to help the environment by planting and composting your food scraps.

My fourth reason is:Compost helps control erosion.

Composting has seen to help control erosion in a lot of places like embankments

, lakes , rivers , golf course , parks and heaps of other places.

So you can see that a lot of grounds have healthy grass and healthy plants.

We will have a healthier environment if we compost. 

 So if the environment is important to us we need to compost so we can stop 

erosions and reduce the landfill.

  My fifth reason is:Compost makes and saves money.

 Composting is rich to farmers because it helps you grow your crops and helps the dead soil. 

Composting saves money because you won't have to buy a whole garden you can just buy the seeds.

The seeds will grow with cultivated help that means people will have to plant the seeds water them and let it

have some sun.

This is what we have to do so we can have good and healthy plants.

I hope I have persuaded you to hear what the benefits are to composting and hope you will compost.

This week we revisited writing a summary and taking notes.
My teacher read this story to us and we had to write a summary using the ‘W’ words.

Here is my summary:
In a chicken coup there lived two chicks named Hansel and Gretel and there pour old grandpa.
There mother was taken recently from them by the fox. Hansel and Gretel just got back from the
corn field and there coup was trashed and there grandpa was gone.
They had enough of the bird napping so they went to train the art of ninjutsu.
They found a house there lived a strange looking man and he asked them to come in.
The chicks looked again and saw the fox come out of his cloak and the fox threw them in with
their mother.
Hensel pick the lock and they all took a run for the door to lock him in.
The two chicks thought that they should protect the chickens from getting birdnaped.

Reflection:I have a little understanding. I need to relearn how to write a summary in my own words.
